Langton Green
Langton Green is a village west of Royal Tunbridge Wells on the A264, built around a large green that gives the place its shape and its conservation area, designated in 1973. Its character is early nineteenth-century and Victorian rather than medieval, with work by three named architects. There is no station; Royal Tunbridge Wells is about two and a half miles east. What it’s actually like
Langton Green is arranged around a big open green, and that shapes everything about it — the cricket, the pub, the school run, the way people know one another. It's Regency and Victorian rather than medieval, which gives it a lighter and more elegant feel than some of the older villages nearby. A very easy place to like. Holmewood House prep school sits just off it, which matters to a lot of families.

The houses
This is early nineteenth-century and Victorian around a large green, not medieval street frontage — a distinction a generic page gets wrong. Number 1 and 2 The Green are early nineteenth-century brick, reportedly built as gardener's cottages for Holmewood House. Elsewhere there is early nineteenth-century coursed sandstone, high-Victorian sandstone ashlar in All Saints, and Holmewood's own Regency ashlar. Twenty-two listed entries sit around the green and the lanes off it.
Getting to London
Langton Green has no station. Royal Tunbridge Wells is about two and a half miles east, with two Southeastern trains an hour off-peak direct to London Charing Cross, fastest around 54 minutes, and Cannon Street at peak. High Brooms is a little further.
Schools
Langton Green Primary School serves the village. Holmewood House is the independent co-educational preparatory school on Barrow Lane, for children from three to thirteen, day and boarding, in thirty acres. There is no secondary school here.
